A couple of weeks ago I hit you all up with my first impressions and demo of the Rimmel London Sculpting Kit, and now I’m here with a 100% certified organic, grass-fed review! These are Rimmel’s first sculpting palettes. They all include a highlighting, contouring, and blush shade made to give the skin a natural glow and fine chiseling action.
There are currently 3 shades available (Golden Sands 001, Coral Glow 002, and Golden Bronze 003). My palette is in the darkest shade, Golden Bronze 003. It comes in ultra-shiny and ultra-scratch ready rose gold lined plastic packaging. Each shade is numbered and labeled, meaning even a contouring novice will be able to follow along.
The shades all blend out nice, but the texture of them isn’t perfect. The contouring shade kicks up a lot of dust when picking up product, which can end up on your clothes. While, the highlight and blush shades do feel fairly creamy, they may skip slightly on the skin when going over grooves, texture, and fine lines. It’s not incredibly noticeable, but I think the application comes out best if you swirl into the product with your brush and then apply with patting motions.
My two biggest concerns with the kits are with the blush and color selection. While the blush looks pretty in the pan and when doing the initial swatch, it does not translate the same intensity when blended out. The shade appears to be a mid tone pink with a golden sheen to it, but when placed onto my cheeks, the pink fades quickly leaving only the golden shimmer behind. It’s almost as if I have 2 highlighting shades instead of 1. The other concern I have is the color selection. I’m not the darkest person on the planet, and while the shading here might be my perfect fit, I’m not sure how the contouring shade will look on people 2 or 3+ shades darker than me.
Overall, though, I am very pleased with this purchase. It’s ranges from about $6-$6.99, which is cheaper than the cost of buying individual highlighting, contouring, and blush shades. At the end of the day, despite my intense oiliness, all shades remain on my face as well. While I am not a fan of the the blush shade at all, I like the natural look of the highlighting shade and genuinely love the contouring one.
Thanks for reading!
Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!
